Lead for Service Counters - Winning Store Operating Model

As our greatest asset, they make Musgrave a great place to work and in return we aim to be the very best place to work, grow and thrive.  We have an exciting opportunity for a successful candidate to join our Winning Store Operating Model (WSOM) Programme for the role of Service Counters Lead.  This role will work closely with stakeholders to support delivery of the most efficient in store operating model for the Service Counters, which maximises the value of labour efficiency across our Musgrave and Independently owned Retailer Store Estate.

The primary objective for this role is to manage the concept scoping, design, pilot and wider rollout of efficiency and profit enhancing plans for the Service Counters e.g. Deli, Butchery, Bakery etc, that will deliver success for Musgrave and our Retail Partners.  Within scope are all core Counter areas and processes, and this role will seek to deliver cutting edge, technologically enabled, and process optimised Counter areas to ensure Musgrave and our Retailers are maximising operational efficiency

 

Key responsibilities of the role include but not limited to:

  • Support the overall planning, design, pilot and implementation of the Service Counter Module Efficiency plan which is a key area of our Winning Store Operating Model Programme
  • Driving a labour reduction agenda across all service counters in SuperValu and Centra (Butchery, Fish, Deli, FTG, Bakery)
  • Be the ambassador for WSOM as part of Strategy Development within Trading, ensuring WSOM Principles are aligned to
  • Ensure the accurate capture and reporting of labour savings from any BAU initiatives within Trading
  • Trial, business case and roll-out a Production Planning Tool that meets the needs of retailers in the most cost-effective way
  • Ensure successful embedding of the Counter Size Tool in the annual Revamp Process, working closely with the Range Team and Store Development Team
  • Be responsible for the reporting of progress and performance to all relevant stakeholders, including Transformation Steering and Trading Update Meetings
  • Reporting progress to the Module Sponsor and other key stakeholders in a clear form through Module meetings
  • Being a key point of contact and link to all relevant stakeholders
  • Supporting interaction with our own stores and Independent Retailers
  • Working closely with external consulting on best practice delivery
  • Bring expertise of current processes and future state ambition impacting service counters. 
  • Working closely with the Sponsor and cross functionally on implementing and embedding the efficient new processes and technology
  • Measure and review impact on outcome, benefits and efficiency
  • Drive efficiency as part of Centra Next Gen/SITG and SuperValu Next Generation projects, including working closely with Food Leadership Teams

  • Strong interpersonal & stakeholder management skills
  • 3rd level Bachelor’s degree or minimum of 5 years relevant experience
  • Knowledge of the Irish retail industry a distinct advantage
  • Strong Planning & Organisation Skills

  • Strategic thinking skills
  • Proven commercial acumen
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent Change management skills
  • Structured and independent way of working, including strong issue identification and hypotheses generation skills to mitigate implementation risks
  • Ambition and passion to achieve lowest cost and optimise efficiency
  • Good judgement showing logical decision making, and with a proven ability to influence within the organization

The location for this role is flexible across Ireland. Musgrave operate a Work Smart hybrid working model where you can alternate your time between connecting and collaborating in the office and working remotely. Occasional business travel to other locations will also be required.
