The search is on for Northern Ireland’s SuperMum

The search to find Northern Ireland’s SuperValu SuperMum is back for 2016
The search to find Northern Ireland’s SuperValu SuperMum is back for 2016. TV personality Claire McCollum, Sandra Overend MLA and SuperValu Communications Manager Kate Ferguson were on hand to launch the campaign with help from her one year old twins Mya and Jackson. Finalists are set to be honoured at a prestigious awards ceremony at Parliament Buildings, Stormont on September 28.
For the third year running, SuperValu’s SuperMums campaign will recognise mums from every county in Northern Ireland for their endless dedication to family, friends and communities. The campaign will culminate in a prestigious ceremony in Parliament Buildings, Stormont on 28th September 2016.

According to research conducted by SuperValu to launch the SuperMums campaign, 85% of mums across Northern Ireland have revealed their children’s health is their biggest priority. The survey, which questioned over 200 mums across Northern Ireland on a number of topics, found that many find it difficult to plan meals for their children and are looking for quick and easy meal solutions. It was revealed the majority of mums spend over £100 per month on their children’s eating habits, with priorities of purchasing fresh, quality produce and making healthy choices.

The majority of mums claimed the biggest challenges they faced were achieving a successful work-life balance and finding quality time to spend with their children. Holly Willoughby was voted the most inspirational ‘celebrity’ mum due to her perceived ability to achieve this.

TV personality and mum of two, Claire McCollum, has returned for a third year to help launch the SuperValu SuperMums campaign.

I am delighted to be back for a third year supporting the SuperMums campaign. Each year we meet so many inspirational mums and hear their personal challenges,” said Claire.

This campaign is a wonderful opportunity for women across Northern Ireland to be recognised for the hard work, dedication, love and support they give their family, friends and communities every day and I am really looking forward to seeing the finalists at Stormont in September,” she added.

Kate Ferguson, SuperValu Communications Manager, said: “We are absolutely delighted to see this campaign grow year on year as we launch the SuperValu SuperMums search for 2016 across Northern Ireland.

We can see from our survey that mums are trying to ensure their children eat healthily but being time poor they are looking for convenience. At SuperValu we have an extensive range of fresh, local produce; top quality meats and poultry for mums looking to cook from scratch. We also have a tasty, local range of convenient Fresh for You meals for those days when mums need something a bit quicker,” she added.
