Leading convenience retailer SuperValu officially launched its rejuvenated store in Omagh on Friday, 2nd December, following an investment of £700,000, supporting 42 jobs in the local area.
To mark the occasion, locals were invited to visit SuperValu from 2pm to enjoy a cookery demonstration from celebrity home cook Suzie Lee and to sample a selection of local products including SuperValu’s SimpliDish range of meal solutions. There was also a spin the wheel competition with goodie bags to be won, while children were treated to a visit from Santa.
Caroline Rowan, Head of Retail Operations for SuperValu said:
“We are delighted to unveil our new-look SuperValu store in Omagh which is one of the first in Northern Ireland to be developed with our new format. The store has been designed with the local community in mind, ensuring they have the best products and offers on their doorstep, alongside a modern and spacious shopping environment, while the Post Office remains an integral part of the service.
“We’ve engaged with the local community and listened to their feedback and as a result have relocated all departments on the ground floor, which is still accessible from Main Street, Market Street and Scarffes Entry.
“We are very excited to introduce a fantastic new 26 seat Frank and Honest café instore which is a great addition for our High Street customers where they can enjoy a hot beverage and tasty snacks.”
The major investment has allowed for other new and exciting additions including an expanded food-to-go offering with a new hot and cold deli counter, now located on the ground floor; an enhanced grab ‘n’ go sandwich and instore bakery range; as well as the introduction of Moo’d ice cream.
The store also has an extra seating area for customers who wish to enjoy their food in-store while new self-scan tills have been introduced for convenience.
In addition to expanding the current ranges, the Happy Pear plant-based range of products is now available alongside a new selection of healthy meals, plus an enhanced meat range prepared instore by our butcher. Supporting local, the store also stocks Mulligans, one of Omagh’s favourite local bakeries.
The new Frank and Honest 2.0 coffee dock offers a greater selection of hot-drinks-to-go for customers on the move and features 100% compostable coffee cups, plastic free coffee capsules and Rainforest Alliance Certified coffee beans. Customers can benefit from the brand’s digital loyalty app which offers a free coffee after earning ten digital stamps.
The store’s off licence, which has been relocated and increased in size, now boasts an improved, premium range of beers, wines, and spirits including specially sourced wines exclusive to Musgrave NI (owner of SuperValu).
Commenting on the revamp, store manager Kieran Kelly said: “The team and I are really excited to welcome customers, existing and new, to our amazing, rejuvenated store in the heart of Omagh’s town centre.
“We were extremely proud to win the ‘Retailer of the Year’ award at the Omagh Business Awards recently and we look forward to continuing to provide great value and service to our customers. We hope shoppers enjoy all the new and exciting concepts in store and we are always on hand to help them have the best shopping experience possible.
“With the cost-of-living continuing to rise, it’s clear that keeping household costs down is front of mind for our customers. As part of SuperValu’s commitment to value, our shoppers will benefit from over 200 special offers on big brands every week and over 400 cheaper own brand products. And with more than 500 of our branded products price-checked against Tesco, we are committed to delivering the best value for our customers across our entire range.”
Musgrave is working to achieve its net zero ambition by 2040 and the group are firmly committed to being more sustainable, Caroline Rowan explains:
“As part of Musgrave NI’s company-owned portfolio, we have significantly invested in new energy saving technology. The store is powered using green electricity and features new digital screens, energy efficient LED lighting, and electronic shelf edge labels, making the store as efficient and green as possible.
“Musgrave NI also supports local, spending more than £160m on local food and drink annually. We work with more than 3,000 local farmers, partner with over 150 local suppliers and stock over 3,500 local products across our stores.”
SuperValu Omagh is open from 8am to 7pm Monday to Wednesday and Saturday, 8am to 8pm on Thursday and Friday, and 1pm to 6pm on Sunday.
