Ryan’s SuperValu, Grange has scooped the prestigious Best Medium Supermarket award at the annual Checkout ‘Best in Fresh’ awards. Ryan’s award is another acknowledgement of SuperValu’s ongoing commitment to delivering an unrivalled fresh food range at great value prices while continuing to support Irish suppliers.
The annual awards, hosted by Checkout magazine, recognise retailers for their outstanding contribution to fresh food retailing across the store. Some of Ireland’s most innovative multiples, independent stores, forecourts, deli’s and specialist outlets competed for the awards.
Presenting the award, the judges said “When we visited Ryan’s SuperValu Grange, at 12pm on a Saturday, this store was packed, but everything was absolutely perfect – the presentation, the array of produce, the atmosphere. It won this category last year, and it has managed, somehow, to have got even better since.”
Commenting on the award, Liam Ryan, Ryan’s SuperValu said “This award is a real testament to the commitment and dedication of the team at Grange to give our customers a great shopping experience from the time they enter the store to when they leave. This is about getting everything right in store for the consumer – good quality produce, great value and exceptional customer service.
“At Ryan’s, we believe in delivering quality fresh food that shoppers can really trust”, continued Ryan, “The quality of local food is second to none and this award is a real testament to our unwavering commitment to locally sourced produce. We believe in buying Irish whenever possible, and supporting local farmers and local producers. As with all SuperValu stores, we offer fully qualified butchers, fishmongers, bakers and fresh food experts in our store to advise and help our consumers to make the right choice to match their budget and tastes. This makes us different and better than any of our competitors.”
Stephen Wynne-Jones, Editor of Checkout Magazine congratulated SuperValu saying “The culture of quality and attention to detail that SuperValu fosters in its stores is not just the finest in Ireland, but arguably exceeds that of most of Europe. In addition, the entrepreneurial spirit of its independent store owners is indicative of the efforts made by the group to achieve optimum standards, particularly when it comes to fresh.”
SuperValu serves over 2,000,000 customers every week and has 197 stores nationwide. 75% of everything on SuperValu’s shelves is sourced or produced in Ireland, contributing over €1.6 billion to the Irish economy and helping to sustain almost 30,000 Irish jobs in the farm, food and retail sector.
