SuperValu and Marketplace take over the podium at the recent Sockies Social Media awards

The Sockies are Ireland’s leading social media awards, sponsored by SpunOut.ie, with 30 award categories spanning across a range of social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Snapchat. This year more than 800 nominations were submitted by over 200 organisations across Ireland, of which 30 received awards at the Sockies ceremony on May 25th at the RDS Concert Hall.

Musgrave was at the party with both SuperValu and MarketPlace receiving multiple nominations and coming home with multiple awards.

SuperValu bowled over the judges to win Best use of Facebook In-house team managed; Best digital video campaign and best In-House Social Media team. They were then announced as the overall Grand Prix winner, as selected by the panel of judges. This selection was against competition that included Universal Music, AIB, Bulmers, Tesco Mobile, Aerlingus, Lidl to name but a few.

Musgrave MarketPlace entered the 2017 Best Business Twitter Campaign Category and was selected as the winning campaign entry for this category on the basis of the campaign quality, innovation and online engagement.

Hosted by expert mixologist Robert Caldwell on Wednesday 7th December 2016 from 6pm to 7pm the Twitter Tasting #MMPGin marked the final instalment of the 2016 series of Twitter Tasting events.

It showcased the premium gin and spirits range available at Musgrave MarketPlace to trade and food/alcohol media and bloggers, and promoted Musgrave MarketPlace as a key distributor of a wide variety of quality alcohol over the festive period and into the New Year.

Ahead of the event, tasting packs filled with Robert’s chosen gins, cocktail mixers and utensils along with accompanying snacks from the Musgrave MarketPlace range were sent to participating media and bloggers.

The tasting was hosted at the new ‘Gin Palace’ within the Musgrave MarketPlace Ballymun store, where Robert and the tasting team sent a live stream of cocktail instructions, serving tips and gin trivia via the @MusgraveMPlace twitter feed. Media and bloggers participated from their homes and offices, uploading their own comments, questions, pictures and videos. Participants were also invited to take part in a Greatest Gatsby Selfie competition to boost the volume of interaction and imagery uploads throughout the tasting.

BY the end of the hour #MMPGin was trending no.1 in Ireland. With 16 media and bloggers participating in the event; 118,556 Twitter accounts were reached throughout the tasting and over 1 million hashtag impressions achieved for #MMPGin
