
LARNE man Richard Lusty has won the Centra /Action Cancer Endeavour Award at Northern Ireland’s inaugural Health and Fitness Awards sponsored by Centra.
The prestigious event, which was held in the Crowne Plaza Belfast and attended by 500 guests, celebrated the outstanding achievements of the local health and fitness industry, was presented by Strictly Come Dancing star and health and fitness advocate, Gemma Atkinson and Q Radio’s Ninja Warrior Ibe Sesay with entertainment from BBC’s The Blame Game funny man, Colin Murphy, and local singer Emma Hora.
There were 20 awards across 16 categories recognising the outstanding commitment and contribution from Northern Ireland’s top health and fitness individuals, companies and community engagement initiatives and were independently judged by a highly experienced panel from the health and fitness industry made up of former Ulster, Ireland and British Lions rugby star Stephen Ferris, Centra Ambassador and leading Northern Ireland nutritionist Jane McClenaghan, leading personal trainer Ian Young, fitness blogger Aly Harte and Sunday Life Editor Martin Breen.

A special Centra /Action Cancer Endeavour Award was awarded to Richard Lusty from Centra Larne who has gone above and beyond the call of duty to help raise much-needed funds for Centra’s charity, Action Cancer. Funds raised by Centra’s customers go towards funding the Health Action Programme which educates children of all ages about leading healthier lifestyles.
Jennifer Morton, Centra Brand Manager said: “Richard Lusty, and his son, Raymond, decided to go the extra mile for Action Cancer but instead of 1, they went 1000 miles in seven days by doing a lap of Ireland; he also created the ‘Hilly 100’, a 100 mile bike ride in aid of charity and he regularly holds fundraising events in store raising thousands for Action Cancer. From everyone at Centra, we’d like to say a big thank you to Richard.”
