Putting food safety and quality first
From the Irish beef producer to the Spanish grape grower, from the fresh ready meal producer to distribution centres, our team continuously works with suppliers across the full supply chain to ensure food is grown, produced safely and arrives on shelf in perfect condition. This is achieved through rigorous checks at every point in the supply chain.
Our farmers and producers
At Musgrave we have strong relationships with the best suppliers both in Ireland and overseas to ensure the best quality products. For example all our fresh produce suppliers hold GlobalGAP certification which ensures our consumers can trust the origin, safety and quality of all our produce. Site inspections of our suppliers by our expert teams provide continuous oversight of the management of food safety and quality standards.
Quality Own Brand products
We have over 2000 Own Brand products that cater for all consumer and foodservice customer requirements. All Own Brand suppliers must meet our comprehensive Food Safety & Quality Standard requirements before they are approved to supply. Once launched products are regularly checked by our teams and with consumers to ensure standards are fully maintained and meet consumer expectations.
How our customers benefit
We know our customers care about the safety and quality of their food and its origins. Clear labelling, on all our products including ingredients, origin, storage, cooking instructions, and allergens ensures consumers can make informed choices every time they shop. Product traceability gives confidence on the origin of food which our Foodtrace and DNA TraceBack systems provide.
Safe from field to fork
Our retail and wholesale distribution businesses are 24 hour operations. A product can be of perfect quality when manufactured or picked however careful storage and distribution is integral to ensuring it arrives in perfect condition on shelf. Musgrave has dedicated chill, ambient and frozen facilities as well as a large temperature controlled fleet. Our distribution centres hold numerous food safety accreditations including the Q Mark and ISO 22000.
All our retailers are committed to the highest standards of food safety which is achieved in many cases through external certification of their food safety systems including EIQA which conduct regular checks of all SuperValu and Centra stores. All staff are also regularly trained in Food Safety requirements which ensures that everyone in the food chain plays their part.
