Dublin store wins ‘SuperValu Store of the Year 2015’ award

Kane & McCartney’s SuperValu in Killester has been named the best SuperValu in Ireland, scooping the “SuperValu Store of the Year” title for 2015. The store received the much coveted accolade at the SuperValu National Conference which was held in the Malton Hotel, Killarney recently.

The team from Kane & McCartney’s SuperValu were presented with their award by Martin Kelleher, SuperValu Managing Director, Michael Morgan, SuperValu Sales Director and Eoin MacManus, Director of Three Business, competition sponsors. Audits were undertaken by independent competition judge, Paul Ellison, with SuperValu Killester surpassing all SuperValu stores nationwide.

Flynn’s SuperValu in Lackagh and Garvey’s SuperValu in Dungarvan were announced SuperValu Store of the Year category winners for 2015. The remaining store of the year finalists were:

  • Caulfield/McCarthy Group, SuperValu Loughboy, Kilkenny
  • Hurley’s SuperValu, Midleton, Cork
  • McConville’s SuperValu, Mountmellick, Laois
  • McEvoy’s SuperValu, Virginia, Cavan
  • McInerney’s SuperValu, Loughrea, Galway
  • Nally’s SuperValu, Celbridge, Kildare
  • Riordan’s SuperValu, Fermoy, Cork
  • Ryan’s SuperValu, Glanmire, Cork
  • SuperValu Granard, Longford

On receipt of the award, store owner, Eddie Kane paid tribute to the Killester team and acknowledged that their enthusiasm and constant dedication is pivotal to the success of the store. “Our passionate workforce that is expertly led by our store manager Robert Ward, strive towards a common goal – which is providing the absolute best service, product offering and value for our customers.”

“Over the last two years, the store has undergone numerous improvements in order to satisfy a shift in our shoppers needs. These instore upgrades included the implementation of a scratch bakery as well as a kitchen, with instore chefs producing quality home-made meals.

Other instore additions included the introduction of new health and wellness lines and the innovative food academy range, which is produced by small emerging foodies. We are delighted that we have been recognised for our efforts, not only by our customers but by our colleagues throughout the SuperValu network,” Kane concluded.
