Performance and Reward Manager

We are currently inviting applications for a Performance and Reward Manager to join our HR team on a temporary basis to cover a maternity leave. 

This role will focus on driving the long-term strategy of the Performance and Reward Centre of Expertise and the wider Musgrave People Strategy as key enablers for the successful delivery of Musgrave’s business objectives.  Working closely with the Head of Performance & Reward, and as part of the wider Musgrave HR team, this role will contribute to the ongoing development and delivery of Musgrave’s Performance & Reward strategy and ensure its delivery within established budgets and in compliance with all relevant regulations, laws and employment standards.

Key areas of responsibility include Reward Programmes, Performance Management, Pension Schemes, People Management and Project Work.

Reward Programmes

  • Manage the Job Evaluation process, the Mercer eIPE system and Musgrave’s Position Class (PC) Database.
  • Manage, maintain and develop the Musgrave Job Sizing system and Job Levelling framework to ensure alignment and consistency are embedded across all areas and competencies are established and implemented by Job Level and utilised, via the Performance Management system to inform the Talent Management process.
  • Work with the HR Operations Team ensuring that Musgrave’s annual Total Reward Survey returns in ROI and NI are collated accurately and submitted in a timely manner and benchmarking data is available for professional / salaried roles.
  • Support the preparation of papers and materials for the annual cycle of Remuneration Committee meetings.
  • Manage the preparation, publication and distribution of annual LTIP Statements and ancillary plan paperwork.
  • Design and implement a Performance & Reward communications and engagement plan that can be applied pro-actively and consistently across the business.
  • Develop and lead Musgrave’s Financial Wellbeing strategy to ensure that individualisation is key to our approach and that Financial Wellbeing is integrated into our broader Wellbeing strategy.
  • Use and interpret data insight to assess the impact of our Performance & Reward practices and policies on performance, engagement and the employee experience.
  • Devise revised and updated Performance & Reward policy proposals, as circumstance dictate.
  • Secondary escalation point for complex Performance & Reward case management.

Performance Management

  • Review the current approach to Performance Management with a view to devising and implementing an updated approach, and associated processes, for Performance Management across Musgrave.
  • Assess the trend towards Continuous Performance Management with a view to determining whether more frequent and ongoing checkpoints relating to goal setting, feedback, development etc. would be appropriate/beneficial for Musgrave.
  • Determine how Predictive and People analytics can best be utilised to make trend-based decisions, in creating an agile work environment and improving performance.
  • Formulate an approach to Performance Management that can better cater for all current and future workforce segments such as gig and remote workers, to drive high performance.
  • Ensure that our agreed future approach to Performance Management is designed and implemented with Employee Engagement and Employee Experience in mind.
  • Use and interpret data insight to assess the impact of our Performance & Reward practices and policies on performance, engagement and the employee experience.
  • Secondary escalation point for complex Performance & Reward case management.      

Pension Schemes

  • Manage arrangements for the annual cycle of trustee and Musgrave Pension Investment Committee (MPIC) meetings including the preparation and publication of meeting papers and the pro-active management of action logs.
  • Manage the annual cycle of statutory reporting associated with the operation of the Group’s pension schemes i.e. the preparation and audit of Trustees’ Annual Reports, the publication of Abbreviated Trustees’ Reports, the publication of Summary Funding Statements and the production and publication of Member Benefit Statements
  • Develop and deliver a pro-active pension scheme member communications programme raising awareness of the value of the pension benefits, the importance of members taking an active role in their retirement provision/long-term financial wellbeing and tailoring key messages to cohorts of members at the various stages of the employee life cycle.
  • Manage internal and external stakeholder relationships
  • Secondary escalation point for complex Pension case management.

Other responsibilities include providing clear direction, stretch targets and regular reviews to manage the performance and development of the Performance and Reward Analyst and participating and contributing to the development and delivery of organisation-wide projects.

The successful candidate will have/be:

  • 5+ years’ experience working in a Reward role in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience of interpreting information, trends and the ability to turn data into insight to drive performance
  • Highly numerate
  • Strong attention to detail and delivers high quality accurate work
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written, with a proven ability to communicate effectively across all levels of an organisation
  • Self-starter and able to work on own initiative
  • A team-worker
  • Advanced Excel Skills
  • Third level degree qualification

Desirable

  • CIPD qualified
  • AIIPM qualified
  • Experience using Core HR System
  • Experience in a retail or FMCG environment

The location for the role is flexible as there are a number of Musgrave site locations in Ireland.  Business travel will be required to different Musgrave sites, the Head Office in Cork and other third party locations.
