We are currently recruiting for an Assistant Trading Manager for the Catering Ambient portfolio to join the Trading team.

The purpose of this is role is to have ownership for the sales, margin and cash profit of given product areas to an allocated budget with the support of your TM. Implement Catering business development plans incorporating range, price, sourcing, promotion and supply chain across the Musgrave Marketplace, Collect/Delivered & Independent brands (where applicable).

The role will be responsible for the following:

Range strategy

  • Assess market and competitor trends in your product area and develop a range to capitalise on/counteract trends.
  • Work with category planning team to conduct range reviews, decide on optimum ranges for the business and planograms for C&C’s

Price/Sourcing

  • Assess current pricing and margin performance
  • Continually access Market Pricing & secure better cost of goods to maintain budgeted sales & margins for the areas of responsibility
  • Ensure best sourcing practices to optimize sales & profit (in line with budget)
  • Shipping/Lead times are factored into all sourcing working closely with supply chain.
  • Maximize wholesale margins and competitive position within the market

Promotion plan

  • Promotional Plan – planned & executed with 100% accuracy at Market leading prices
  • Conduct post promotional analysis. Brief suppliers on promotional requirements, review proposals and negotiate improvements to offers

General Admin

  • Ensure that the product and price file is continuously and accurately maintained.
  • Ensure Right First Time with all admin including promotional offers and flyers

Supply chain

  • Work with the supply chain team and the supplier base to ensure availability products to customers.
  • Ensure that the inbound service levels are on target
  • Ensure that all products are monitored regularly & sell off plan is in place for slow moving lines on a continuous basis.

Suppliers

  • Develop JBP plans for key suppliers within your D-groups.
  • Involvement in and conclusion of annual terms negotiations with key suppliers
  • Able to plan to a sufficiently high level prior to any supplier meeting and to follow up on opportunities discussed.
  • Able to cope well in all supplier situations, able to manage difficult conversations and situations

Business Unit Support/Customer Support

  • Support the business units by making regular site visits & and support the brands through development of working relationships with the Sales Team and the key customers. Concerned about the customer and able to understand what effect actions taken by you will ultimately have on them.

The ideal candidate will have/be:

The successful candidate will have/be:

  • Min. 3 years’ experience working within a Trading/ Buying environment
  • Excellent Microsoft Office (particularly Excel) & Outlook skills
  • 3rd level business related degree
  • Strong commercial acumen with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to understand how actions taken across the business affect sales and margin performance of the category.
  • Excellent attention to detail; passionate about getting all projects right first time
  • Strong influencing and negotiation skills
  • Ability to prioritise workload and differentiate between urgent and important tasks.
