Accounts Payable Specialist

We are currently inviting applications for an Accounts Payable Specialist to join our Finance Team on a temporary basis to cover a maternity leave. Reporting to the AP Interface & Projects Manager, this role encompasses the provision of accounts payable services with particular focus on invoice matching and query resolution.

Key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Ensure accurate processing, matching and reconciliation of trade and non-trade invoices
  • Support delivery of KPI targets as set out in Service Level Agreements
  • Analyse invoice queries, aged items and debit balances, following through to resolution
  • Liaise with and support Suppliers in a professional manner
  • Review first time match rate, proactively highlighting areas of concern and assisting in the resolution of miss-match drivers and aged items with the trading, purchasing and operation teams
  • Become a subject matter expert in Accounts Payable areas, identify ways to strengthen controls and act as an escalation point across the team
  • Support the Accountant in the preparation of accruals, providing information as required
  • Liaise with and provide metrics/reports to key stakeholders
  • Support continuous improvement projects and other initiatives to assist in delivering a high-performance culture
  • Participate in training and development in own process area and other process areas within Accounts Payable

The ideal candidate will have/be:

The successful candidate will have:

  • 2+ years experience in Accounts Payable or other Financial Services area, experience working in a large-scale Finance Department would be beneficial
  • Experience working in a customer service focused organisation with a track record of high-quality service delivery
  • Finance systems and/or interface experience
  • 3rd level qualification in a finance related area (desirable)
  • Strong Excel skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Strong communication skills and ability to build relationships with key stakeholders
  • Positive and flexible “can-do, will do” attitude
